Year 1, Term 1 of the Heal Earth Curriculum invites children to experience a "Sensory Awakening." This foundational term focuses on transitioning young learners into the natural world by establishing nature as a safe, predictable, and nurturing space. Before students are asked to solve global problems, they are first guided to find their own "Safe Spot" and build a deep, personal sense of belonging.
Learners explore the Earth through the lens of a scientist-detective: they conduct "Sense Safaris," investigate the living skin of the soil in Mud Kitchen Labs, and map the invisible songs of the wind. By weaving a physical "String Web" of connection and creating temporary "Nature Mandalas," students begin to understand that they are vital knots in the giant, beautiful web of life.
