Year 2 Neuro-Inclusive Environment, Climate & Sustainability Curriculum: Term 1
Year 2, Term 1 of the Heal Earth Curriculum invites children to uncover the invisible power of our planet through the "Energy & Weather" module. This term marks a transition from simple observation to understanding "flows"—tracing how energy moves from the sun to the wind, and into our own bodies. Learners develop a scientific toolkit to measure the world, transforming abstract concepts like heat and kinetic force into tangible data.
Students become "Shadow Detectives" to witness the Earth's spin, engineer "Wind Socks" to visualize moving air, and use thermometers to map the secret micro-climates of the playground. By creating "Baggy Clouds" on the classroom window to observe the water cycle in action and using "Energy Barometers" to track their own "Internal Weather," students build a profound link between planetary energy and personal self-regulation. The term concludes with building "Storm Shelters," fostering resilience and safety awareness as students graduate to become official Energy Experts.
