Year 4 Neuro-Inclusive Environment, Climate & Sustainability Curriculum: Term 1

Year 4 Neuro-Inclusive Environment, Climate & Sustainability Curriculum: Term 1

Year 4, Term 1 of the Heal Earth Curriculum invites children to investigate the intersection of energy and justice through the "Energy Systems & Inequality" module. This term marks a significant pedagogical shift from local technical solutions to global ethical awareness. Learners move behind the light switch to discover that energy is not just a commodity, but a fundamental human right that is distributed unevenly across our shared planet.

Learners become "Energy Justice Advocates" as they analyze NASA "Night Maps" to visualize global energy poverty and simulate the daily challenges faced by neighbors living without a reliable grid. They investigate the chemistry of carbon through the "Soot Experiment" and model the greenhouse effect using the "Invisible Blanket" analogy. By designing portable solar lamps for off-grid communities and negotiating a democratic "Town Hall" debate between different energy stakeholders, students graduate the term as confident Systems Thinkers equipped to advocate for a fair and powered future for everyone.
