Year 2 Neuro-Inclusive Environment, Climate & Sustainability Curriculum: Term 3

Year 2, Term 3 of the Heal Earth Curriculum invites children to explore the vital importance of variety through the "Biodiversity" module. This term moves learners from simple observation to active advocacy, helping them understand that a healthy world depends on the intricate interdependence of every species. Students discover that in nature, "variety is the spice of life," and that even the smallest or "scariest" creatures have essential jobs to do.

Learners become citizen scientists as they conduct "Green Shakes" to discover hidden bug neighbors and use cheese-puff "pollen" to simulate the critical work of bees and butterflies. They build 3D "Habitat Dioramas" to match animals to their perfect homes and create "Paper Chain Lives" to visualize the flow of energy through the food web. By crafting hero posters for the "unloved" creatures like spiders and worms and leading a school-wide "Bio-Blitz" audit, students graduate Year 2 with a powerful identity as official Guardians of the Web.
