Year 2 Neuro-Inclusive Environment, Climate & Sustainability Curriculum: Term 2
Year 2, Term 2 of the Heal Earth Curriculum invites children to explore the intricate invisible systems that sustain our communities through the "Food Networks" module. This term transitions learners from observing individual plants to understanding the complex "Farm to Fork" journeys that bring food to our plates. Students discover that every bite they take is connected to a global web of farmers, drivers, soil, and water.
Learners become "Food Detectives" as they trace local supply chains and use "Fruit Passports" to calculate the food miles of tropical treats. They investigate the "Virtual Water" hidden inside everyday items and meet the "FBI" (Fungi, Bacteria, Invertebrates) to witness the "Magic Rot" of composting. The term culminates in a collaborative "Community Feast," where students practice social inclusion and gratitude, establishing a lasting identity as conscious participants in the Earth's regenerative cycles.
